Bill’s back at helm of Ingleburn Rotary club

Bill Salter, a former Rotary District Governor and past president has again taken the reins of Ingleburn Rotary as the club enters its 40th year.

Mr Salter was inducted as president during last week’s changeover celebration attended by almost 60 members of the community at Ingleburn RSL Club.

He will be supported during the coming year by a board consisting of secretary Jan Domanski, treasurer John Hartmann and directors Ken Barnard, Steve Marshall, Bob Mills, Reg Robinson and Barry Woolfe.

The club has just completed a successful year supporting local charities, organisations and events.

During the past year the club supported The Ingleburn Alive Festival, Australia Day at Kosigaya Park, 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur, The Macarthur Police Officer of The Year Awards, The HOPE Program, Legacy, the 200th Anniversary of the Appin Massacre at Cataract Dam, The Salvation Army, Junction Works, Myrtle Cottage, Beautiful Minds, Macquarie Fields MasterChef, the Homeless Hub and many others.

Proud of work with local youth

The club is particularly proud of its work supporting young people in the community, including helping send representatives from local schools and organisations to leadership training courses.

Ingleburn Rotary also supported the U Turn The Wheel Road Safety Program at James Meehan, Ingleburn and Sarah Redfern High Schools, Curran Public School’s Future Problem Solving Team, Hurlstone Agricultural High School Interact Club, Western Sydney University Rotoract Club.

The club also provided financial and in kind support to several schools in the area.

It is a long time supporter of the Campbelltown Art Awards, funding the Primary Schools Art Prize.

During the 2016 – 2017 Rotary Year under Bill’s leadership the club will continue supporting the local community and participating in projects supported by the Rotary Clubs of the Macarthur district, while planning its 40th anniversary celebration in June 2017.

Mr Salter says he hopes to develop closer ties with industry and the community and provide an avenue for like-minded people to join and participate in a vibrant service club.

“We will also be supporting Rotary International with its programs, and in particular the International Polio Eradication Program.’’

Rotary is a global volunteer service organisation founded in the United States by Paul Harris in 1905.

There are now 1.2 million Rotarians in 35,000 clubs worldwide.

The Rotary Club of Ingleburn meets every Tuesday at Ingleburn RSL Club at 6:30pm.
