On your bike, Mr Mayor: Councillor Paul Hawker tries out the new cycleway link to Macarthur station with local residents, Patrick Arthur and his dad Michael.

On your bikes: Campbelltown City Council has just completed a new cycleway link from Koshigaya Park to Macarthur station.

And local cycling enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that council says there’s a lot more to come yet.

The new cycleway link is part of its plan to improve access for pedestrians and cyclists.

The link is also part of council’s annual capital works program that allocates funds to a range of new projects and programs across the local government area.

It includes formalised street parking and footpath connections for pedestrians.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Hawker, said the new cycleway would provide a connection to existing cycleways, as well as a direct link between the Campbelltown CBD and businesses to the south of Narellan Road.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“The completion of this link is part of a bigger plan to integrate cycleways into the infrastructure of the city and ensure we have synergy when it comes to how our cycleways connect and link popular community precincts.”[/social_quote]

Cr Hawker said there is more to do, however this new cycleway link is a step in the right direction towards investing in the future health of our city.

“I look forward to seeing the community utilise this investment over the course of the coming months,” Cr Hawker said.
