Set to soar: The East Campbelltown Eagles have named Mason Talolua as their Sydney Shield rugby league team captain for 2018.

More footy teams than ever, a new strip and a major makeover of their home are just some reasons the East Campbelltown Eagles are set to fly high again in season 2018.

The Eagles have also announced Mason Talolua as their Sydney Shield team captain for 2018.

Talolua is an East Campbelltown Eagles junior who will be playing his 13th season for the club this season.

He was part of the 2009 Under 18 Group 6/Wests Premiership winning team, the 2012 East Campbelltown first grade undefeated Group 6 premiers and 2012 CRL Clayton’s Cup winners as the best team in the CRL.

Talolua was also part of the 2016 Sydney Shield premiership winning team of the Eagles.

“He came through the ranks of the Western Suburbs Magpies and Wests Tigers and with our feeder relationship with the Tigers and Magpies, Mason’s knowledge and leadership will be beneficial to all players aiming higher,’’ says club stalwart Daniel Draper.

“We look forward at having major work done at Waminda Oval this year and our club looks set to have a record number of teams –  the club’s future has never looked brighter.’’

The Eagles have also announced the signing of former player Ben Jankowski for the 2018 season.

Jankowski is an East Campbelltown Eagles junior and was also a member of the East Campbelltown Eagles 2012 undefeated Clayton’s Cup, and Group 6, premiership winning team and the NSWRL 2014 and 2016 Sydney Shield premiership winning teams.

The new Eagles first grade Sydney Shield strip for 2018 will feature the Wests Tigers and Western Suburbs Magpies logos, while the juniors jersey will display the Wests Juniors Logo where the NSW Sydney Shield Logo is placed.

Eagles training started last week.
