Christmas and Boxing Day are done and dusted, so next we have coming up is the day we celebrate the end of one year and the start of a new one.
New Year’s Eve is the day and Campbelltown’s Koshigaya Park will be the place to be next Monday, December 31 for an exciting end of year celebration that promises to attract large numbers of families and rival any party across the region.
Bring your loved ones and grab your spot in the park early because you won’t want to miss the festivities which feature a packed program of events and five hours of non-stop entertainment from 7pm.
“Celebrating New Year’s Eve in Koshigaya Park is a great way for people to join in the countdown to 2019 and celebrate without having to travel too far,” says Mayor George Brticevic.
“As well as being closer to your home, our New Year’s Eve celebration is a family friendly evening which offers lots of fun and variety for people of all ages,’’ Cr Brticevic said.
“Our two incredible fireworks displays, one at 9pm for families and the midnight fireworks, are always showstoppers on New Year’s Eve especially with the beautiful surroundings of Koshigaya Park as their backdrop,’’ he said.
The celebration offers something for everyone, including live performances by Yeh Nah Yeh, Music & Co, Luke Heafey and V-Tribe.
It is set to be a night to remember.
Instead of a stage show for the children this year, the little ones can join in the fun and pick up a paintbrush to add their artistic touch to our UV Art piece as well as be dazzled by our Glow and LED roving performers who will have Koshigaya Park brimming with colour.
The park will be lit up with colour and light during the celebration.
A giant screen on the western side of the park will display all of the on-stage entertainment so everyone will have a front row seat on the night.
People can also enjoy a variety of food stalls and carnival rides.
New Year’s Eve in Koshigaya Park is a drug and alcohol free event.
Residents are also being reminded that fireworks can scare animals. If your pet tends to be frightened by loud noises, make sure you keep them restrained or inside the house on New Year’s Eve.
Temporary road closures will be in place on parts of Camden Road, Hurley Street and Kellicar Road from 6pm on New Year’s Eve to 1am on New Year’s Day.
Happy New Year!
