The opening night of the Group Six Rugby League Pre-Season competition was held on Friday night at Sid Sharpe Oval, Oakdale, with three matches held.

A capacity crowd at Oakdale enjoyed the official resumption of football hostilities, with six clubs flexing their footballing muscle over shortened 25 minute halves.

The opening match saw The Oaks meet Narellan, with the Tigers skipping out to a 12-6 lead at halftime, before pushing on to a 22-16 win over a determined Jets outfit.

The second match of the night put the home side in Oakdale against Appin, and the Dogs were far too strong for the locals, with an easy 30-4 win against a disappointing Workers outfit.

The final match of the evening saw Mittagong face Thirlmere, and for much of the match, there was no score to be found. Eventually Mittagong defeated the Roosters 12-4, in what was a very dour affair.

Campbelltown City and Moss Vale were eliminated from Round 1 of the competition, leaving eight teams to form the quarter finals
