Wests Tigers head coach Benji Marshall has resisted the temptation to hit the panic button and make wholesale changes following Sunday’s 64-0 wipeout in Melbourne.
He has named a 22-man squad to take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Sunday evening that contains few changes.
Starford To’a returns from injury and takes the place of Brent Naden, who finds himself in the number 14 jumper for Sunday’s must win clash with the Bunnies.
Big bopper Royce Hunt comes into the starting line up in place of prop forward Fonua Pole, who is unavailable for selection.
Another middle forward, Tony Sukkar, who was 18th man for the Melbourne trip but ended up with game time, is on the bench this time round.
As for the performance against the Storm, well, the coach called it “embarrassing’’, so let’s leave it at that.
It’s in the past now and hopefully the Tigers will bounce back against the Rabbitohs, who are suddenly in good form.
But they’re not the Storm, so the Tigers should at the very least be in the fight for 80 minutes in this one, which will kick off at 6.15pm.
And if Benji gets a bit desperate he might call on the services of former Western Suburbs Magpies legend Paul Langmack, who will be on promotional duty for Wests Group Macarthur in the afternoon, both at the Leagues club and the Sherwood, the former tennis club.
Seriously though, the Tigers need a performance that erases last week’s humiliation, simple as that.
