On April 25, 2006 Australia and the rest of the world were stunned to hear about a major mine collapse in Beaconsfield Tasmania.
Five days later, on April 30, rescue workers discovered that two miners, Todd Russell and Brant Webb were still alive.
That night, explosive expert Darren Flanagan received a phone call that would change his life for ever.
What followed was an incredible coordination effort by dozens of rescue workers who were by now focused on getting the two miners out.
That one phone call changed Darren’s life from being an ordinary family man into one of the real heroes of the “great escape”.
The incredible story and valuable lessons learnt from the Beaconsfield Mine Rescue will be centre stage at the Greater Narellan Chamber of Commerce February meeting because guest speaker will be the explosive expert himself.
Darren Flanagan is considered one of the best motivational and inspirational speakers in Australia.
In this emotional and truly memorable presentation, Flanagan will share his story and in doing so, demonstrate the capacity of ordinary people to show incredible spirit and perform under extreme pressure when faced with a set of extraordinary circumstances.
