Battle of the bands: The Dirty Reeds will be appearing on the first of the Fisher’s Gig two pre-selection heats on July 29-30 at the Greg Percival Community Centre, Ingleburn.

Local bands and solo artists will take to the stage in a hot contest over two big nights to secure a highly sought after spot at this year’s Fisher’s Gig.

Pre-selection heats on Friday and Saturday, July 29-30 at Greg Percival Community Centre, Ingleburn will see young performers across a range of music genres go head to head in an effort to impress the crowd and judging panel.

Indeed the audience vote will be playing a key part in determining the final line-up for the November 5 event at Bradbury Oval.

The annual Fisher’s Gig all ages music festival has established itself as the largest of its kind in south west Sydney.

It is a highlight of Campbelltown City Council’s annual Festival of Fisher’s Ghost.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Hawker, said Fisher’s Gig and the pre-selection heat process provided an avenue for young local performers to gain live performance experience and showcase their talent to the wider community.

“As well as being a great opportunity for residents to experience local live music, both the pre-selection heats and the main event in November offer local performers a valuable professional development opportunity and first-hand experience of the music industry,” Cr Hawker said.

“Fisher’s Gig continues to showcase our region’s wealth of talent.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“It gives local acts the chance to perform alongside renowned national artists at the main event, and I encourage residents of all ages to come along in support of local music for the pre-selection heats and the gig itself in November.”[/social_quote]

Pre-sale tickets cost $10 and can be purchased from Campbelltown City Council or directly from the performers.

Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door on the night for $12.

The pre-selection heats will be held from 6pm to 10pm (doors open from 5.30pm) on both nights.

The event is drug and alcohol free and proudly supported by Indent.
