Oasis: Galloway Green, a new park in Gledswood Hills opening this Saturday, has it all, from barbecues to high tech benches.

There’ll be plenty of good old-fashioned fun this Saturday when Mirvac celebrates the opening of Galloway Green, the community park at the heart of its new development, Crest at Gledswood Hills.

The fun will start from 11am, with Camden deputy mayor Theresa Fedeli to perform the ribbon cutting honours at noon.

Galloway Green, at almost 6,000 square metres, will be an oasis of green in the midst of fast growing Gledswood Hills.

Mirvac will donate all proceeds from the day to assist drought stricken rural families.

There will be live country music from local performers Maple Creek duo, and activities to suit all ages – from sack races to tug-o-war as well as Giant Jenga and Connect Four.

Youngsters will delight in the farm animal petting zoo along with a jumping castle, face-painting and balloon artist.

And there’s no need to pack a picnic with the Gregory Hills Rotary Club putting on a sausage sizzle, Carelli D’Amore serving up gelato and fairy floss, Woofy’s offering pastries and tea and coffee, and Mirvac serving fresh fruit.

The gold coin donation will assist Camden’s drought-affected farmers along with the proceeds from a raffle with some fabulous prizes – a $1,000 Freedom furniture voucher, $500 Bunnings voucher and a $250 Country Club Gledswood Hills voucher.

Mirvac’s general manager of residential development in NSW Toby Long said the design team gave careful consideration to the lifestyles of future residents at Crest to ensure every resident got the most of out of the wide open spaces within the 90-hectare community.

“Close to half of the estate is dedicated to outdoor recreation areas,” Mr Long said.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“There are walking and cycling tracks but the park is the place that really brings the community together.[/social_quote]

“All ages have been catered for with play equipment and a large kickaround area where kids can gather to kick a ball or just let off steam and run.

“With a barbecue and picnic settings there is a place for families to eat outdoors and catch up with neighbours, family and friends.

“We expect a lot of birthday parties to be held here in the years ahead and maybe it will be the starting point for our next footy or cricket hero.”

The park will be a place for people to connect in more ways than one, with a smart bench with wi-fi and phone charging capability catapulting Galloway Green to top of the smart park stakes.
