Campbelltown City Council has partnered Rotary Club of Ingleburn to install a new barbecue and picnic shelter at Milton Park.
The new facilities in the Macquarie Fields park were built to mark the club’s 40 years of service to the community.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, who officially opened the new facilities yesterday morning, said he was pleased council was able to work with Rotary to ensure the significant milestone in the club’s history was appropriately commemorated with a gift to the people of Campbelltown.
“Ingleburn Rotary has made an important contribution to Campbelltown City, and beyond, over many years, and the new barbecue and picnic shelter is a tangible example of that contribution,” he said.
“The excellent new facilities will provide locals with another space to socialise with friends and family, and enjoy the outdoors.
“The contribution of local Rotarians is wide and varied, and locally includes the Macarthur Police Officer of the Year awards, Rotary Youth Exchange and supporting year 11 students in learning to drive through the U Turn the Wheel training course.
“Rotary has also played a valuable role in both council’s Ingleburn Alive festival and Australia Day activities at Koshigaya Park, in addition to working towards the eradication of polio throughout the world, and building cyclone proof classrooms on Emae Island in Vanuatu.
“On behalf of Campbelltown residents, I’d like to congratulate Ingleburn Rotary on their 40 years of service, and efforts to improve the lives of local residents and people around the world.”
Milton Park is located at the corner of Henderson Street and Macquarie Road.
