Former Campbelltown Councillor Matt Stellino is running for the Senate on May 3.

Macarthur voters will have seven candidates on their ballot paper when they head to the polls for the May 3 federal election.

The ballot draw was conducted late last week by the Australia Electoral Commission.

Sitting Macarthur MP Mike Freelander – who has held the seat for the past nine years – is in spot number three on the ballot, with his main rival, the Liberal Party’s candidate Binod Paudel in sixth spot.

There are nine candidates on the ballot paper for the neighbouring South Western Sydney seat of Werriwa, held by Labor’s Anne Stanley – also for the past nine years.

Ms Stanley picked up the number two spot, with her main rival, Sam Kayal (Liberal Party) in number five.

In the seat of Hughes, which now includes the northern parts of Campbelltown such as Glenfield, Macquarie Fields and Ingleburn, there are eight candidates on the ballot paper.

Labor candidate David Moncrieff won top spot, while Jenny Ware, the Liberal Party candidate, is in sixth spot.

Shadow treasurer Angus Tayor is set to retain his seat of Hume, which includes parts of the Macarthur region.

Mr Taylor won top spot on the ballot paper, with Labor’s Thomas Huang in seventh spot.

There are eight candidates all up on the ballot paper voters will receive on election day, Saturday, May 3.

In the Senate ballot paper is a name familiar to Campbelltown Council followers, Matt Stellino, who is number two on the Animal Justice Party ticket.

Mr Stellino served one term as a Campbelltown councillor.

But despite being one of the most impressive performers during that term of office he just missed out on re-election, with the Macarthur Greens winning two spots at the 2024 council elections.
