Families and friends are invited to celebrate on Australia Day at one of the biggest community events of the year at Campbelltown’s Koshigaya Park on Saturday, January 26.

“Australia Day is a chance for everyone in our community to come together and celebrate our diversity and what is great about Campbelltown,’’ says Mayor George Brticevic.
“I encourage people of all ages to make the most of our great Aussie weather and enjoy the barbecues, live music, activities, carnival rides and Aussie-themed activities,’’ Cr Brticevic said.
The day is also a chance for us to honour people from within our community who devote their time to making Campbelltown an even better place to live, as well as welcoming our newest citizens.’’
Australia Day will start with the official proceedings at Ingleburn’s Greg Percival Community Centre from 9am and include the announcement of the local Australia Day Award winners, a visit from the 2019 Campbelltown City Australia Day Ambassador, Paralympic athlete, adventurer and accessibility advocate Nicholas Gleeson, a citizenship ceremony and a damper morning tea supplied by Ingleburn Country Women’s Association.
The celebrations at Koshigaya Park will begin with a free community barbecue hosted by Ingleburn Rotary Club from 2pm to 4pm and feature a tasty assortment of food to tempt the tastebuds.
Get your toes tapping when local performers take to the stage at Koshigaya Park in a line-up which includes Ilisavani Cava, Annika j. Music, Kristie Mercer and Bryan Brown, the Luke Koteras and Peter McWhirter Band, the world’s only steam-powered mobile gramophone DJ, The Gramophone Man, and finishing with the popular Sydney act The Baker Boys Band.

Temporary road closures will be in place in the vicinity of Koshigaya Park from 1pm to 10pm.
Council’s aquatics facilities and leisure centres will offer half price entry and plenty of fun activities being held across the day. Water Wonderland will also be open at Bradbury Oval from 10am to 5pm on Australia Day.
