Atura Oran Park, which was officially opened last night, is a beautiful hotel in every respect. From the artworks in the lobby to the ultra modern bar and restaurant, to the Santorini-like pool outside, this is more than a place that provides temporary accommodation.
Last night, nobody present could fail to notice that Atura staff rostered on were beaming with happiness.
You would as well, if you’d just left a job at Sydney Airport for a gig at Atura Oran Park – where you and your family also live.
The South West Voice spoke to several Atura staff members, and they all told the same happy story as the one above.
Two live in Oran Park and another in Wilton, and their days of spending more than hour on the road or public transport – or both – getting to places like Circular Quay for work are over – thanks to the investment by the Perich family into the hotel business.
And that’s the real legacy being left by this incredible family, especially the two brothers, Tony and Ron Perich, and their wives, Cathy and Lyn.
Atura Hotel Oran Park is the result of a partnership between the Perich family business and EVT Hotels & Resorts.
Its opening last night was one more milestone for Oran Park, which is also earmarked for a metro station on the Western Sydney International Airport line.
Not far from the beautiful Atura Oran Park, our national football club, Macarthur FC, along with Camden Council, are looking into the viability of building a new stadium to host A-League games.
All these things are combining to overturn decades of misery for locals who have had to drive long distances to their jobs.
Across South West Sydney, close to 70 percent of locals are still doing just that – but that number is mercifully starting to come down.

The other legacy is that now we also have a great new hospitality asset, located in the heart of Oran Park, and just minutes from WSI and the rest of Macarthur.
The hotel brings together contemporary accommodation, destination dining, flexible conference and event spaces, resort-style leisure facilities and welcoming social areas.
“Atura Oran Park is a significant milestone in the evolution of Oran Park, bringing to life our vision for a vibrant town centre,’’ said Mark Perich, director of Greenfields Development Company and son of Tony and Cathy Perich.
“More than a hotel, it will support the area’s continued growth while providing a place for residents, businesses and visitors to meet, celebrate and stay,’’ he said.

Shannon Craig, area general manager at Atura Oran Park, told guests at last night’s official opening the hotel reflects the energy and ambition of one of Australia’s fastest growing regions.
“Today is about opening the doors to a destination designed for the future of Western Sydney,’’ she said.
“Atura Oran Park creating a place where locals and visitors can come together for business, celebrations, events and memorable stays.
“After 24 years with EVT, bringing hotels to life is still one of the things I love most, and there’s something truly special about this one.
“We’ve created a hotel that feels connected to its community, inspired by the character of the region and brought to life through the warm, approachable hospitality the Atura brand is known for.
“Opening the doors today is a proud milestone, and we can’t wait to welcome guests and the wider Oran Park community.’’
