Grab the kids and join Fred’s party as Campbelltown celebrates the 60th annual Festival of Fisher’s Ghost from 6 to 15 November, with a variety of extremely entertaining, fun and free activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Campbelltown Arts Centre’s gardens and gallery will come alive with the return of Fisher’s Kids, delivering a program packed with colour, imagination and rhythm, on Sunday, November 8 between 10am and 2pm.
Kids and their families are invited to get creative during hands-on art making workshops, led by some of Sydney’s leading contemporary artists, including installation artist and spectacle creator Rosie Deacon and multi-disciplinary artist and ‘blob’ fanatic, Louise Zhang.
Young hipsters can jive to the sounds of the Jamestown Collective, a West African dance and percussion collective that creates infectious sounds and visual vibrancy by combining recycling, rhythm and dance.
There will also be a chance to interact with the Fisher’s Ghost Art Award exhibition and explore the sunny sculpture garden.
Head to Campbelltown Skate Park on Saturday, November 14 from 4pm to 6pm for Fisher’s Extreme Showcase, an afternoon of skate, scooter and BMX action for all ages.
Watch new tricks from the masters and be entertained by the live action, as the skate park celebrates Fred’s legend with a free barbecue, music and giveaways.
Hosted by Campbelltown City Council and Totem Skate School, with support from local businesses and community organisations including Youth Off The Streets, Fisher’s Extreme Showcase is sure to provide lots of excitement and heaps of thrills and spills.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Hawker, said Fisher’s Extreme Showcase and Fisher’s Kids were a great way to get young residents involved in the festival, and the spirit of community that the event represents.
[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“From art to skateboarding to carnival rides, the Festival of Fisher’s Ghost has something for everyone. It’s 10 days of fun and entertainment, and we want everyone to join Fred’s party,” Cr Hawker said.[/social_quote]
“The festival of Fisher’s Ghost is one of Australia’s longest running community celebrations and reflects the city’s strong sense of community spirit.
“Council prides itself on delivering a varied and exciting program each year, and 2015 will be no exception,” Cr Hawker added.
