When your dogs start barking at night you naturally go out and check out why.
For two Campbelltown residents in Centaurus Street it turned out they were being robbed when they went outside after hearing their dogs barking just after midnight on Thursday.
Police who are investigating the robbery say that about 12.15am the two male residents were woken by their dogs barking.
One of the men went to the rear of the house to check why the dogs were barking and was confronted by two men and a woman armed with what police say appeared to be a firearm and knives.
The group demanded money before leaving with cash, watches, mobile phones and a 2016 black Mercedes C63 coupe, which has a registration plate with AMGRP on it.
Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene, which has since been examined by specialist forensic officers.
Local detectives also attended the home and commenced an investigation into the incident.
Police have been told one man is described as being of Pacific Islander/Moari in appearance, 185cm tall, with a solid build, wearing dark hooded jumper and dark pants.
The second man and woman were both described as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance with a thin build, 165cm tall and at the time were wearing dark clothing.
As investigations continue, anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
