The discontent and frustration has reached boiling point at Campbelltown Hospital following the state government’s decision to introduce paid parking at the hospital.

 Campbelltown MP and Shadow Minister for Western Sydney, Greg Warren, met with hospital staff and collected a stack of petitions opposing the government’s plan.

 Mr Warren will take the petitions to the health minister while in Parliament this week.

  • The staff and the Health Services Union are calling for:
  • staff weekly parking fees to be capped at $10;
  • the first three hours to be free for the public;
  • public daily fees to be capped at $10.

Mr Warren lauded the staff for taking a strong stance against the government.

Mr Warren also said his position had not changed – he has not, and will not, support the introduction of paid parking at Campbelltown Hospital in any way, shape or form.

Support: MP Greg Warren with Campbelltown Hospital staff.

 “In what warped and wacky world does this government think it’s appropriate to slug patients, their loved ones and staff to park at Campbelltown Hospital,” Mr Warren said.

 “It is an insensitive, inexcusable and inexplicable decision that proves this government is more concerned about profits than people.

 “I applaud the HSU and staff for taking a strong and unified stance against the NSW Liberals’ disgraceful plan to introduce paid parking at the hospital.

“Staff work to be paid, they shouldn’t be forced to pay to work.

 “But it is important I reiterate my opposition to the introduction of paid parking at the hospital.

“Let’s be crystal clear – I have not and will not ever support the introduction of paid parking at Campbelltown Hospital.”
