Another pool tragedy as toddler loses battle

A toddler pulled unconscious from a backyard pool at Macquarie Fields yesterday has tragically lost her fight for life.

The two year old girl was taken to Liverpool Hospital by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, she later died.

Officers from Macquarie Fields Local Area Command will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A brief will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

Police have charged a man over a hit and run incident at Kellerman Avenue, St Helens Park.

Police will allege a 22-year-old man was walking on Kellerman Avenue yesterday when he was struck from behind by a car.

They also allege that the driver of the vehicle did not stop.

The injured man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a fractured pelvis and lacerations.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital but has since been transferred to St George Hospital.

Following inquiries, about 3pm, police attended a home on Fiveash Street, St Helens Park, and located a vehicle they allege was involved in the incident.

A 44-year-old man attended Campbelltown Police Station where he was arrested and charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, failing to stop after impact causing grievous bodily harm and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Monday, January 23.

The man’s license has been suspended.
