The Campbelltown animal care facility will hold its first ever open day next month.

Go behind the scenes, meet our four-legged friends and enjoy a range of free activities at Campbelltown Animal Care Facility’s first ever open day.

The open day – on Saturday, March 4 – will feature tours of the facility and free family activities.

These will include face painting, balloon artistry and a jumping castle, in addition to information stalls and the sale of engraved pet tags through Campbelltown Lost, Found and Injured Pets.

Visitors to the centre in Rose Street (near Blaxland Road) will also have access to helpful pet ownership advice, free pet health checks by Macarthur Vet Group and the RSPCA, and free microchipping for the first 100 pets (a maximum of two pets per household).

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, encouraged the community to go along and meet council’s dedicated animal care team, and see first-hand the significant improvements which have been made to the facility in recent years.

“The open day is an opportunity for council to showcase the facility, including the new cattery which opened early last year, dog exercise yards, veterinary treatment rooms, and grooming and dog bathing area, and to provide a fun day out for local families,” he said.

“The community is invited to bring their four-legged family members along, just to enjoy the day or to have them undergo a free health check.

“There will also be the opportunity to meet our animals that are available for adoption.”

Community donations will also be welcome at the open day.

Goods that can be accepted include dog coats, dog and cat beds, polar fleece bedding, towels, blankets, dry biscuit kibble and canned food.

Unfortunately, doonas, pillows and sheets, and fresh or cooked food cannot be accepted.

Pets will be welcome at the open day, but dogs must be on a leash and cats in carriers at all times.
