A wealth of exciting and diverse activities will be available for children and young people in Campbelltown during the April school holidays, which start from this weekend for most students.

Campbelltown City’s four library branches offer a great range of activities to keep kids busy, from craft and board games for under 12 to programming with Scratch for eight to 14 year olds, and Dungeons and Dragons for ages 12 to 18.

Free sustainability workshops, hosted by Council in partnership with the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living, give kids the opportunity to find out how to prepare and plant their own garden, and photograph and learn about mini-beasts like insects and worms, or drop by the Easter Eco Hub at Macarthur Square, outside Target on Level 2, and learn how to make recycled art from every day household items, including boxes, paper, milk and juice cartons, plastic bottles, plastic containers, jars and cereal boxes.

Kids can make a splash at Macquarie Fields Leisure Centre, Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre in Bradbury, and Eagle Vale Central, with all pools offering an intensive learn to swim program as well as fun in the pool with inflatables on selected days.

For kids who get their thrills on wheels, the Campbelltown Bicycle Education and Road Safety Centre is open from 10am to 3pm on Sundays, as well as weekdays during school holidays. Entry is free – just bring your own bike or scooter and helmet.

Campbelltown City and Eagle Vale School Holiday Care centres are open from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and offer a range of exciting activities and excursions, including trips to the movies, Hangtime Trampoline Park and Kingpin Arcade. Council’s Family Day Care educators also hold activities and excursions during the school break.

Creative kids can head to Campbelltown Arts Centre to enjoy a range of activities and workshops, including Art Explorers, a playful guided tour designed to nurture a love of art, Designer Threads, an un-embroidery class, or Contemporary Ceramics, designed for emerging artists to learn alongside a practising artist. Kids can try an acting workshop with NIDA, or be part of the ever-popular Einsteinz Music classes.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said the huge variety of activities and excursions on offer locally, would ensure kids of all ages and interests would have lots of fun these school holidays.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“For kids who want to tap into their creative side, there’s a host of activities at Council libraries or Campbelltown Arts Centre, and for those wanting to get out and about there’s bike riding, swimming and excursions,” he said.[/social_quote]

“That’s just a taste of the fun on offer – there’s many more local activities to keep the kids entertained, engaged and inspired these school holidays.”

School holiday programs are popular and can book out fast. Bookings for library programs opened today, Monday, April 3.
