The Australian Botanic Garden at Mt Annan autumn activities program has something for everyone.
From wine and food festivals to Easter egg hunts, Macarthur’s magnificent natural jewel ensures that you don’t have to fret if you have nothing on at some stage over the next three months.
Australian Botanic Garden’s Autumn 2016 What’s On program has just been released and there’s a raft of ideas for local families.
Autumn highlights include the Easter Egg Hunt on March 26, followed a week later by the ever popular AnnanRoma food and wine festival on Sunday, April 3.
AnnanRoma, the most popular food and wine festival in the Macarthur region, returns to the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan on Sunday, April 3.
New to the event in 2016 will be “Eat Street” – the main avenue of delicacies stretching along the central circuit of the Garden, with great entertainment playing on the day, and the stunning backdrop of the lakeside setting.
This community event showcases the best food from restaurants in the Macarthur region, as well as the freshest local produce available. Organisers work with many of the area’s expanding vineyards and breweries to showcase the best wines and beers from across Camden, Campbelltown and Wollondilly.
The region is one of the last remaining areas food bowls close to the Sydney CBD – and the Gardens are proud to support the local industries that supply fresh produce to the Sydney market.
Organisers are starting to call for stallholders and emphasise to be a stall holder you must meet the strict guideline of being a producer, restauranteur, vintner or brewer from the local region. If you are interested in being a stall holder at the event, contact the Garden on 4634 7935.
Another big event at the Botanic Garden will be Breakfast with the Birds on Sunday, March 20.
The guide will take participants through the endangered Cumberland Plain Woodland ecosystem onsite at the Garden to discover some of the 170 species of birds that call the site home.
The tour finishes with breakfast at the Garden restaurant, Melaleuca House.
The Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 26 heads an exciting list of activities during autumn in the Garden.
Highlights include Earth Dinosaur Zoo on Saturday, April 16, Tour & Tea as part of celebrating Seniors Week, Dinner in the Secret Garden, workshops on Beginners Photography and seeds and kids’ favourite Tom’s Nocturnal Discovery Tour.
