Lack of bathroom facilities at new service centre cops blast

It’s new and big but the Macarthur Service centre does not have a toilet for the public, some of whom may have to drive half an hour to get to it.

Less than a week after the closure of three local motor registries, it has been revealed that the new Service NSW Centre at Gregory Hills does not have a public bathroom for customers to use.

And this adds insult to injury, says Campbelltown MP Greg Warren, who today slammed the lack of toilet facilities at the new centre.

Last Friday, the existing motor registry offices at Campbelltown, Ingleburn and Narellan closed despite thousands of local residents signing petitions against the move.

All services such as registration and driver’s licence renewals were relocated to a Service NSW Centre at Gregory Hills.

However, it has since been revealed that the purpose built Service NSW one stop shop does not even have a restroom for customers to use.

Mr Warren has put the boot into the Baird Government, saying the lack of such facilities is further proof of the contempt with which the government is treating people from the Macarthur region.

“The Government’s failure to include a public bathroom at the Service NSW Centre only adds insult to injury for the people of Campbelltown,’’ Mr Warren said.

“The Service NSW centre was fitted out only in the last couple of months, and for whatever reason the government decided to not include a public bathroom as part of that renovation.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“Some residents are now forced to travel in excess of 30 minutes each way to access these services, so not having a bathroom available for them to use is a real problem.[/social_quote]

“Whether it was the lack of community consultation, ignoring thousands of signatures on petitions, or now not having a public bathroom, at every stage of this process the Baird Government has shown it simply does not care about the needs of the people of Campbelltown and Macarthur.”
