Youth unemployment is on the rise in south west Sydney and a local MP is not happy about it.
New figures released this week show youth unemployment in outer south west Sydney has almost doubled during the past four years.
The data, from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, shows that youth unemployment in the region had skyrocketed to 14.3 per cent last month, compared to 7.8 per cent in March 2011 when the Liberal Government was first elected to power.
Outer south west Sydney also recorded the biggest increase in youth unemployment of any region in NSW over the four year period.
The State Member for Campbelltown, Mr Greg Warren, has condemned the Baird Government over their record on youth unemployment.
And Mr Warren has called on Premier Mike Baird to make the issue a matter of priority.
“Put simply, the Government is just not doing enough to support job creation for young people in our region,” Mr Warren said.

“It means nothing if it’s not supported by good policies that actually achieve that outcome,’’ Mr Warren said.
“Mike Baird and his Government need to act now to support job creation in South West Sydney, or else our young people are going to continue to struggle to find jobs.”
