
Camden Council, Campbelltown City Council, Wollondilly Council, Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation, and Uniting, invites the community to come together to honouring the Stolen Generations and amplify Aboriginal voices at a National Sorry Day event at the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan next week.
The day will open with a catered morning tea, followed by a ceremony featuring a Welcome to
Country, smoking ceremony, truth-telling, cultural performances, and youth voices sharing their visions for the future.
After the formal proceedings, attendees are welcome to enjoy live entertainment, participate in workshops, and connect with community stalls.
On offer will be a dance workshop and Orche paint by Milan Dhiiyaan, weaving workshop called A little bit of Rainbow, truth telling with elders – Kinchela Boys Home. boomerang painting by KARI, bush tucker tours provided by Botanic Gardens of Sydney, and a community sand painting mural by Walangari Kantawarra.
Camden Council, Campbelltown Council, Wollondilly Council, DPHI Cemeteries, and Disability Gateway will also have stalls during this event.
Food trucks will be available on-site for those wishing to purchase meals, including an Aboriginal cuisine food truck – Wilka Thalta – and a catered morning tea by Plate Events.
This event will offer a respectful and inclusive space for learning, listening, and deepening connection to
Country as part of National Sorry Day – which is meant to be a moment for reflection, truth-telling, and strengthening the journey toward reconciliation.
