Imagine someone in Campbelltown or Camden spending around $100 million to create a state of the art golf driving range featuring 56 bays over two levels, a nine-hole Greg Norman designed par-three golf course, a 27-hole mini-golf experience, as well as a registered community club featuring 1,200 dining seats, bars, restaurants and a dessert parlour, along with a 400 square metre children’s arcade and play centre.

It’s hard to believe that it could happen right here in the heart of our region, the great outer South West of Sydney, but it’s true.

Yesterday afternoon, just over where the fourth hole will be located, Wests Group Macarthur unveiled its vision for The Greens.

The new venue, set to open late 2027, will feature a golfing and hospitality experience not yet seen at this scale in Australia.

Designed to meet the needs of a rapidly growing local population, The Greens also intends to provide tourists and travellers with a new and exciting attraction, drawing visitors to the blossoming South West Sydney corridor.

Guests at yesterday’s turning of the sod ceremony were told work is already well under way on one of the most visionary projects undertaken privately in this region.

It will also provide close to 200 new jobs, something desperately needed in this region where most locals have to travel far and wide to work and earn a living, as Wests chief executive officer Daniel Perkiss told guests.

He also reminded them that the site of the Greens is where another local hospitality icon used to attract visitors from far and wide: El Caballo Blanco.

Which adds another beautiful layer to an already wonderful local story: a new icon arising from the same place an old icon used to provide its magical charms to visitors from locals, metropolitan Sydney and across NSW.

Wests Group Macarthur has woven design references from the glory days of El Caballo Blanco throughout the Greens venue, with various areas referencing the former tourist attraction.

This includes relics incorporated into the design, a reimagined Australiana Park experience for families, and nods to the site’s history through branding, menus and art.

Extensive consultation has also informed the design approach, including Indigenous consultation to ensure the precinct reflects a genuine connection to Country through landscape design, public art and integrated cultural elements.

Yesterday’s event was attended by community dignitaries, including local State MPs Sally Quinnell, Nathan Hagarty, Judy Hannan, and Mayor of Camden Therese Fedeli.
