
Lindesay Street is one of Campbelltown’s busiest throughfares. It is quite a long street, running parallel to Moore-Oxley Street and Queen Street.
In the south, Lindesay Street starts at Bradbury Avenue and runs at almost a straight line north all the way to O’Sullivan Road at Leumeah.
A lot of streets run off Lindesay – the reason it’s such a busy thoroughfare.
There are no traffic lights along the entire route, but Lindesay Street is dotted with roundabouts.
One of the intersections which experiences high levels of traffic, at Allman Street, will soon have a brand new roundabout to improve the level of safety for motorists.
Funding of almost $400,000 has been allocated for the single lane roundabout in the latest round of the national Black Spots program.
It was one of a number of local black spots to receive funding, and they included:
- $520,700, Broughton Street, Campbelltown, for raised threshold, crest/dip sign, Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS), mid-block street lighting, Retro Reflective Pavement Markers (RRPMs), and high friction surface.
- $120,400, Kraal Drive and John Kidd Drive at Blair Athol, raised threshold.
- $209,830, Lancaster Street and Memorial Avenue at Ingleburn for single lane roundabout.
- $150,000, Heritage Way and Englorie Park Drive, and Copperfield Drive at Glen Alpine, raised threshold, pedestrian refuge.
- $170,000, Box Road and Pine Road, Casula, raised threshold, roundabout deflection improvements, kerb ramps.
- $66,381, Atkinson Street and Hume Highway at Liverpool, upgrade intersection from give to stop, install raised islands with additional stop.
- $440,000, Feodore Drive between Sandringham Drive and Spencer Road intersection, Cecil Hills, raised threshold, raised median, pedestrian fence on kerb, pedestrian crossing.
- $1.019m, Silverdale Road and Norton Basin Road at Wallacia, improve sealed shoulder up to 2.5m on curve, install wide painted profile (audio-tactile) centre line, install painted median, install shoulder from no shoulder/unsealed to 0.5 – 1m sealed on straight, install high friction surface.
- $424,950, Sadlier Avenue and Tumbarumba Crescent, Celebration Road at Heckenberg, raised threshold, rigid barrier, pedestrian crossing, raised island with stop, blister barrier line marking, upgrade intersection from give way to stop.
