Calls for the establishment of Campbelltown Day, a review of the level of graffiti, and the provision of accessible drinking water taps are among the notices of motion at next Tuesday’s October meeting of Campbelltown City Council.

Labor Councillor Ash Rahman is calling for a report on the feasibility, cost and timeline of installing accessible drinking water taps at key public facilities across the local government area.

These would include – but not limited to – play spaces, sports playing fields, parks and reserves.

He is also asking that council promote the installation of drinking water taps as part of its broader commitment to community health, active lifestyles and equitable access to essential amenities.

Another Labor councillor, Masood Chowdhury, is calling for a report on the amount of graffiti across the LGA over the 2021-2024 period that impacted council property, including parks and infrastructure.

Cr Chowdhury is also asking for council to consider awareness campaigns to discourage graffiti vandalism, and find ways to encourage responsible artistic expression through designated mural spaces.

The leader of the Community First Totally Independent Party, Councillor Josh Cotter, is behind the call for a report into the feasibility of establishing an annual Campbelltown Day.

Cr Cotter has tabled a second notice of motion for next week’s meeting, this one focusing on council mowing services.

His motion calls for a report on mowing services across the 18.37 million square metres of community and operational land and the 2.8 million sqm of land under care control and management of council.

His motion calls for details on community awareness initiatives undertaken regarding mowing service frequencies, and outcomes and insights from the implementation of council’s Mow Time community portal.

Cr Cotter wants the report to provide “opportunities for improvement, recommendations to enhance public understanding of mowing services, and strategies to better manage community expectations through improved communication and transparency.’’

Greens Councillor Jayden Rivera has also tabled a notice of motion for the meeting, which calls for a report looking at holding quarterly forum to “promote open discussion with the community and all councillors. The report should include scheduling and venue options and resourcing requirements.’’

  1. Campbelltown Day? How about selecting ONE festival and putting the work into it.
We already have Australia day, winterfest, fishers ghost, Easter event at the showgrounds, ingleburn alive, markets, food fest, etc etc.
Rather than doing all that, give it a rest, make Fishers Ghost the number one event and go from there.
I’d love to see how much all these events make for Campbelltown.
    You can bet not much…
