It takes a village, so we all have to do our bit

Whether it’s helping to establish an Indigenous football program or sponsoring sporting and cultural groups, Duffy Law Group gets top marks.

But why is it important that businesses give back to the community?

We put that question to Patrick Duffy, the principal of Duffy Law Group, and the reply was as rapid as it was sharp:

“Well, because otherwise you don’t have a community,’’ Mr Duffy said.

“If people are prepared to live here, and work here, take the benefits that come from living and working here in Campbelltown and the Macarthur region, they should look forward to giving back in some way, or at least participating, whether it’s through volunteering, donating, giving your time, giving your money, everyone should be out there.

“It takes a village,’’ Mr Duffy said.

Indeed, and Duffy Law Group certainly does more than its fair share to make sure we have a thriving community.

The firm have been the major sponsors of the storied Campbelltown Harlequins rugby union club for several years.

Dufy Law Group also sponsor the mighty Camden Rams rugby league club, and Campbelltown Collegians soccer club, as well as individual sportsmen and women across the region.

“We’ve had a long involvement with the Harlequins, the Camden Rams, the Collegians, and lots of other community sport and arts groups,’’ says Mr Duffy.

He says he’s very proud to be one of the founders of the Indigenous football program with the Camden Tigers.

The program’s aim was to give talented Indigenous soccer players an opportunity to get involved with the game at all levels.

“It is a wonderful initiative,’’ says Mr Duffy.

“This year we’ll be re-working the program to focus more on player development and pathways.’’

Turning our focus on the legal side of the ledger, Mr Duffy says he’s confident AI (artificial intelligence) will be a force for good for legal eagles and their clients.

“A lot of people thought AI may actually end up replacing lawyers, but the good news, at least from our perspective, is that it is likely to make sure the good lawyers can do their job more quickly, more efficiently and more cheaply for their clients,’’ Mr Duffy said.

Duffy Law Group, who offer a full legal service, have offices in Narellan and Queen Street, Campbelltown.
