Campbelltown’s tallest building has been officially opened in Dumaresq Street. The 14 storey tower containing commercial and residential floors was opened yesterday morning by the managing director of Saxon Developments Terry Bassal, along with Member for Campbelltown Greg Warren and the Mayor of Campbelltown, Dr George Greiss, pictured above cutting the ribbon at street level.
Most of the formalities however took place on the rooftop garden of the 14th floor, which offers 360 degree views. The building also has four basement floors offering stacked parking and end of trip facilities.
Other guests included council general manager Lindy Deitz and business leaders such as Patrick Duffy and Jim Marsden, whose building is almost opposite the new tower in Dumaresq Street.
“It’s great to be here to celebrate the opening of this fantastic new building,’’ Mayor Greiss said in his speech.
“As Campbelltown continues to grow, it’s important that we attract high quality residential and commercial development to our CBD area.
“This development is a great example of how private industry can work with council to ensure best practice development and produce good outcomes for the community,’’ he said.
“Council is working hard on the revitalisation of our CBD precinct, but we need the support of private industry to help achieve the community’s aspirations for the area.
“I’d like to commend Terry Bassal and the team here at Saxon Developments for their efforts on this project.
“This development provides a range of options for people looking to get into the market and will play an important part in the ongoing revitalisation of this area.’’
In his speech, MP Greg Warren emphasised the need for the Campbelltown area to continue to provide more and more infrastructure.
“Campbelltown needs and deserves high quality developments, and it is great to see the delivery of projects like this one meeting that need,” he said.
“The best results for our community are always achieved when we work together, and I thank everyone involved for their work on this project.”
