It may be the A-League off season, but it’s still all happening at Macarthur FC.
To start with, the fallout continues from the yellow card scandal, with the club announcing it has cut Ulises Davila loose.
“The club and Ulises Davila have agreed on a mutual termination of his contract going forward. The club will not be making any further comment at this stage,’’ was the full media statement from the Bulls this week.
On a more positive note, Macarthur FC have announced two significant player signings, Chris Ikonomidis and Liam Rose.
Ikonomidis, a 29 year old attacking midfielder, will bring a wealth of experience, which includes an Italian Super Cup, two Coppa Italia Primavera titles, two Italian Supercoppas and an Australia Cup. He has previously played for SS Lazio, US Salernitana 1919 and Melbourne Victory.
“It feels great. I’m super excited to join the Bulls, and I can’t wait to meet my teammates and start the preseason,’’ Ikonomidis said after putting pen to paper for a two year deal.
“I’m excited to meet all the fans. Can’t wait to play in front of you guys at all the home games, and hopefully, we can get lots of wins.”
Liam Rose of course is no stranger to Bulls fans, having been a part of the Macarthur FC inaugural squad.
The 27-year-old rejoins the Bulls on a two-year deal after playing for USL Championship club El Paso Locomotive.
Rose’s addition further bolsters the team, joining the defensive midfield ranks with another new recruit, Luke Brattan.
“I remember my time at the Bulls well, and I’ve kept a close eye on the club even while playing in America. I can’t wait to be back out there giving my all for the club fans,’’ Rose said.
In Australia Cup news, the Bulls will face O’Connor Knights SC in the Round of 32 on Tuesday, July 30.
The match is set down to be played in Canberra.
