Campbelltown Arts Centre will put the spotlight on Greater Western Sydney musical talent in the next two weeks.
The music focus starts with South of Sydney Touring Circuit this Thursday, March 14.
It will be followed by Ngana Birrung (Dharug for Black Stars) on Sunday, March 24.
South of Sydney Touring Circuit aims to connect the vibrant live music scenes prevalent in South of Sydney by showcasing established and emerging cross-cultural musical acts that will resonate across the region.
Local favourites, True Vibenation, will be the first to hit the stage at Campbelltown Arts Centre this Thursday.
They can’t wait to bring their soulful hip hop and afro-funk musical roots to an event to the home town of a couple of their members.
“We’re pumped to be part of the SOS Touring Circuit, playing at the Campbelltown Arts Centre – a place close to our hearts as Vuli and Moody grew up there,’’ True Vibenation said in a media statement.
Joining True Vibenation on the line-up is Campbelltown local talent Ruu, who combines the nostalgic qualities of 90s and 2000s hip-hop with the social commentary of today’s climate.
Just one week later on March 24, Ngana Birrung arrives at Campbelltown Arts Centre, 6pm-10pm.
The Ngana Birrung concert series features rising talent and established First Nations artists that will hit the stage across Western Sydney.
The closing Ngana Birrung event at Campbelltown Arts Centre boasts a stellar all female line-up (pictured above) headlined by ARIA award winner Kaiit and Miss Kaninna and supported by Kootsie Don.
The Campbelltown Arts Centre audiences will also be treated to a special performance by emerging local artist, Riah.
“Campbelltown Arts Centre is bringing a fantastic selection of live music to the region for people to enjoy, featuring a range of artists that includes local talent like Ruu and Riah,” says Campbelltown Mayor George Greiss.
“As our region continues to grow, a vibrant and active live music and entertainment industry will be an important part of Campbelltown’s development so we’re very excited to be able to bring events such as the South of Sydney Touring Circuit and Ngana Birrung to a live music venue like Campbelltown Arts Centre,” he said.
