Macarthur FC will run on to the playing field at Campbelltown Stadium knowing a win over Wellington would give them top spot on the A-League ladder.
The Bulls have already qualified for the knockout stages of the AFC Cup following their 3-0 away win last Thursday night over Philippines side Cebu FC.
Top of the ladder – and a two point margin – would be a big motivation for bagging the three points tonight in front of their fans.
It’s not going to be easy, far from it, against the Phoenix, who have won three of their last four A-League Men games against Macarthur FC.
The New Zealand side won their most recent encounter (April 2023) with the Bulls 1-0.
Nix have also won three of their last four meetings at Campbelltown Stadium, so there’s another big challenge right there for Mile Sterjovski’s men.
On the plus side, Macarthur FC are undefeated in their last seven A-League games (four wins and three draws) including wins in each of their last two games in the competition.
The last time they won more in succession was a four-game streak from November to December in 2021.
One thing’s for sure, though, for those fans who attend tonight’s match: the Bulls will be competitive for the entire 90 minutes as they continue to strive to turn Campbelltown into a fortress.
An interesting sub-plot will be Clayton Lewis (pictured), now in Bulls colours, facing his old club.
Tonight’s game, which will kick off at 7pm, is the final round eight clash, but not the last before Christmas.
The Bulls will also play the last fixture of round nine, against Perth Glory, this Saturday, December 23.
In other Bulls news, Macarthur FC recently signed young defender Kealey Adamson to further strengthen the backline.
He was part of Sydney FC’s Australia Cup winning squad this year and his instrumental role caught the eye of Bulls coach Mile Sterjovski.
Any reports on the Bulls should tell us if the game will be on TV and where as I can never find it
Mr Ward, all A-League games are shown on Paramount+, while Channel 10 shows one game a week, the Saturday night one.
