Ulises Davila reckons that the tough scheduling of the past week will be good for Macarthur FC.
Speaking ahead of tonight’s rescheduled A-League match with Adelaide United at Campbelltown Stadium, the Bulls captain said it was all part of getting better as a team.
“Having some players in the A-League games and then others in the AFC Cup game creates the kind of pressure that makes a better team,’’ Davila said.
The Bulls are one step closer to the AFC Cup knock-out stages after they pocketed all three points against Shan United in Bangkok last Thursday night.
Shan United players were denied visas for the game scheduled at Campbelltown, so it was re-scheduled at the neutral Bangkok venue.
Despite missing key players such as Davila and Raphael Borges Rodrigues, the Bulls were determined to fight for their spot in the knock-out stages of the AFC Cup tournament, winning 4-0.
All four goals were scored in the second half, with midfielder Jerry Skotadis bagging his first as a Bull and celebrating accordingly, pictured above.
The other three were scored by Daniel de Silva, Jake Hollman and defender Tomislav Uskok.
It was an impressive second half performance from the Bulls, who now have to back up three days later against the might of Adelaide.
Macarthur FC and Adelaide United have alternated wins across their six meetings in the A-League Men.
United won their most recent encounter in the competition in January.
The Bulls won their three home games against the South Australian side – with a combined score of 10-1 – but losing the three away fixtures in Adelaide.
If this mini tradition continues tonight – kick off is at 7pm at Campbelltown Stadium – the Bulls will pocket another three vital premiership points.
