There’s more to the Macarthur Workplace Learning Program (MWLP) than facilitating work placements for Year 11 and 12 students studying vocational education and training courses as part of their HSC.

“We offer a service that also gives local businesses a look at potential future employees and an opportunity to connect with their community,’’ says a spokesperson.

MWLP – Linking Youth is a not-for-profit organisation based in Campbelltown, but its reach stretches out to a much larger area.

“We are always on the lookout for amazing businesses to become host employers for our students who need real world experiences in the subject they are studying,’’ the spokesperson said.

The students in the program complete a certificate in a vocational subject course that is recognised by Australian industry and the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).

MWLP offer work placements in a variety of industries, from allied health to animal services, automotive, beauty, business, community services, construction and early childhood.

Electrotechnology, entertainment, financial services, fitness, hospitality, human services, information and digital technology, manufacturing and engineering and plumbing are just some of the other industries where placements are made for VET students in the catchment area of MWLP.

“Students come to you when you want and are committed to a minimum of 35 hours over one full-time week.

“It’s free and students are covered by all the relevant insurances, so get in touch with us today to find out more about hosting students at your workplace.’’
