Feedback from a South West Sydney forum will help bus services better across NSW.

Members of the state government’s bus industry taskforce and Transport for NSW planners and other staff took part in the face to face forum held at Liverpool.

“For too long passengers in Liverpool had their concerns ignored,’’ said Member for Liverpool Charishma Kaliyanda, who attended the forum.

“We’ve seen buses cancelled and drivers leave in droves, but now the NSW Government is working to fix the crisis in the bus industry.

“This is an important opportunity for Liverpool commuters to share what’s working, and what’s not working, so we can focus on making our bus services better for everyone,” Ms Kaliyanda said.

The Member for Leppington Nathan Hagarty also attended Friday’s forum.

“Ensuring our growing communities have the bus services to match is vital,’’ he said.

“I’m so pleased the bus taskforce is in Sydney’s South West listening to commuters and I look forward to working with them to improve services in our part of the world,’’ Mr Hagarty said.

Bus services, frequency, reliability, routes, bus stop set ups and accessibility to bus services or information were all up for comment by commuters who attended the forum.

“This forum gives the community the chance to have their say about what can be done to make their journey on public transport more seamless,’’ said parliamentary secretary for transport Marjorie O’Neill

“Cancelled services, connectivity and integration with other modes of public transport has been a hot topic in this area and I know the community wants to see an improvement to their bus services.’’

Feedback received will be used by the Taskforce in its advice to the minister on how to make bus services better across NSW.

Also, a summary report will be prepared so that people can see how their feedback will be used.
