Mayor George Greiss says it doesn’t matter what part of Campbelltown you’re in, you can’t miss the tallest new building in the central business district.
He was speaking at a topping out ceremony held yesterday on the 14th floor of 8 Dumaresq Street, a $100 million tower containing commercial and residential spaces that has quickly become a Campbelltown landmark.
“It’s a great achievement and a wonderful asset to Campbelltown thanks to the vision and hard work of the people behind the project,’’ Mayor Greiss said.
“The investment in this building is a positive signal for Campbelltown.
“Here’s to your next building in Campbelltown,’’ he said.
Mayor Greiss, Campbelltown Council general manager Lindy Deitz and director of city futures Rebecca Grasso were the guests of honour at the traditional ceremony.
Representatives from the owners, Saxon Developments, and the builders, TQM, attended the ceremony.
The tower, located between the council owned Dumaresq Street cinema building and Campbelltown post office, is the first residential project in the CBD and first commercial in 30 years, Terry Bassal, managing director of Saxon Developments, told guests.
“The topping off ceremony represents a significant milestone in the construction process. It marks the completion of the structural framework, symbolizing the collective effort, expertise, and dedication of everyone involved,’’ he said.
“From council to our architects, project managers, builder and their subcontractors, this achievement is a testament to their hard work and unwavering commitment.
“We extend a warm welcome to Campbelltown City Council Mayor George Greiss, whose presence here today highlights council’s support and commitment to the growth and development of this community.
“The topping off ceremony is not just a celebration of construction but also a celebration of the potential this building holds.
“It will become a vibrant hub for business and residents and also serve as a catalyst for progress, innovation, and community engagement.
“It will stand as a testament to the collective aspirations and the vision for a better future.’’
