A cold snap yesterday meant round six of the Macarthur Conference was played in arctic conditions.
But the freezing temperatures were nothing compared to the brutal wake up call that all three Campbelltown teams were served in their respective games.
East Campbelltown Eagles, Campbelltown Collegians and Campbelltown City Kangaroos travelled south and all returned home without any premiership points.
The Kangaroos were rounded up by the Rams in Camden, while the Collegians were no match for the Roosters in Thirlmere.
East Campbelltown had the longest road trip of all, to Mittagong, where the Lions were just too good in another reminder they are one of the favourites to take out the title in 2023.
The Lions are undefeated so far, with five wins and a bye.
They are leading the competition with 12 points, and unless the wheels fall off, they will be there at the business end of the season.
Camden had key players out in their clash with the Kangaroos, but they rallied in front of their home fans to produce a convincing win.
In among some very performers stood out Chris Browne, who converted 10 from 10 goal kicks in diabolical conditions.
Camden neighbours the Narellan Jets recorded their first victory of the season after downing South West Sydney Goannas 38-16.
It leaves the Goannas the only side without a win so far.
Two big matches are the standouts in round seven, which will be played this coming Sunday from 3pm.
Mittagong Lions will be jumping on the team bus for the trip north to Bradbury Oval to face Campbelltown Collegians.
After suffering their second loss of the season at Thirlmere, Collegians will want to bounce back as quickly as possible.
They have had a good season so far, and the match with the high flying Lions will be a good test for the Collegians.
Across town, East Campbelltown will host the Camden Rams at Waminda Oval in the other big game of the round.
The Eagles have been inconsistent so far, a habit long time coach Richard Barnes will no doubt be hoping is on the way out.
As for their opponents, the Rams will be formidable opposition full of confidence after their big win on the weekend.
