Man with machete in court over altercation with police at Tahmoor

A man who was wielding a machete when confronted by police in Wollondilly faces five charges.

The incident occurred close to 10pm on Friday when officers attached to Camden Police Area Command responded to reports of a man armed with a machete in York Street, Tahmoor.

The man allegedly ran at police resulting in an altercation, during which the 50-year-old was arrested.

He was taken to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. No police officers were injured.

On his release from hospital, the man was conveyed to Narellan Police Station where he was charged.

He was refused bail and appeared in Parramatta Local Court yesterday (Sunday), where he was formally refused bail to re-appear at Picton Local Court this Wednesday (May 10).

In a separate incident, two men have been charged following a pursuit in an allegedly stolen vehicle in Camden South.

About 3.50am yesterday (Sunday), officers attached to Camden Police Area Command attempted to stop two vehicles on Armour Avenue, Camden South.

After allegedly failing to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated, before both cars stopped on McCall Avenue.

The occupants of one of the cars were searched, whilst the occupants of the other fled the scene on foot.

Police established a perimeter, and with assistance from the Doq Squad, two 20 year old men were arrested.

They were taken to Narellan Police Station where one of the men was charged with nine offences, including stealing a car.

The other man face four charges, including having in his possession goods suspected of being stolen..

They were both refused bail to appear in Moss Vale Local Court today (Monday).
