Campbelltown resident David Cruickshank took some of these photos last Monday week of a waterlogged Koshigaya Park.
The pictures also show water flowing in Fishers Ghost Creek, which runs between the park and Campbelltown Mall shopping centre.
Mr Cruickshank sent some questions along with the photos.
Among other things he was wondering why we pay council a stormwater tax, as he called it, and yet places like Koshigaya Park still flood after heavy rain.
“And this is not the first time this has happened, with the park flooding out to Hurley Street last year,’’ he pointed out.
The South West Voice in Macarthur passed Mr Cruickshank’s concerns to the council, who responded promptly.
“The Council does collect a Stormwater Management Charge,’’ they said in their reply.
“The annual Stormwater Management Charge provides funding specifically for stormwater management restoration, maintenance of stormwater infrastructure and for environmental initiatives to better manage stormwater.
“These programs assist in reducing flooding and water damage from heavy rain, as well as prevent litter and other pollutants from being washed from roads to local creeks and waterways.
“We also use the Stormwater Management Charge for flood studies with a focus on identification of a range of improvement programs to reduce the impact of loading within the LGA.’’
