Residents across nine suburbs in South Western Sydney can finally upgrade their NBN connection to fibre to the premises.

Eligible residential homes and businesses in Leppington, Bringelly, Rossmore, Austral, Kemps Creek, Catherine Field, Denham Court, Gledswood Hills and Gregory Hills can now access a higher speed service if they wish.

This has become possible thanks to $2.4 billion investment in the first Albanese Government budget to enable an additional 1.5 million premises to transition from fibre to the node to Fibre to the Premises by 2025.

Local Labor MPs have welcomed the inclusion of some of their constituents in the expansion plan.

“The Albanese Government’s investment to expand NBN fibre access will provide better access to families,’’ says Anne Stanley, the Member for Werriwa.

“It will ensure that locals and businesses have the benefits of faster and reliable fibre connections.

“I welcome the NBN commitment which will mean faster and reliable NBN to support working from home, small business, study and recreation.”

Member for Macarthur, Dr Mike Freelander, says the investment to expand NBN fibre access is a gamechanger.

“This announcement is an opportunity for eligible local families and businesses to enjoy the benefits of a faster, more reliable fibre connection,’’ he said.

“I welcome NBN’s commitment to supporting the families and businesses in Macarthur and encourage the community to check the NBN website to see whether they are eligible for an upgrade.

“Under the previous Morrison Government, the NBN was neglected for too long. This had significant impacts on businesses and individuals who were dealing with frustratingly slow broadband speeds, which only made their ability to work and study remotely even harder.

“As our businesses, schools and community groups move more and more online, I am proud to be part of a government that is investing in enhancing NBN access in Macarthur.’’

  1. Fast internet is useless unless we can get a reliable consistent signal inside our homes and offices.

Cobbitty, Grasmere, Carrington and many other surrounding areas suffer inconsistency of signal, 24/7, so speed is of no value.
    Nobody seems to care.
All we get is blunt replies like we are working on upgrades.

Try viewing the Optus coverage map to see what limited coverage shows, and that only refers to outdoor coverage.

    NO GOOD ENOUGH.
