Last night’s federal budget includes funding for a new Headspace centre in Edmondson Park.
It also allocates $6m towards a link between Aviation Road and Middleton Drive to ease congestion.
Anne Stanley, the federal member for Werriwa, has welcomed the Budget initiatives for her electorate.
“South Western Sydney is rapidly developing, residents need access to vital services and resources especially during difficult times,’’ said Ms Stanley, who is pictured above (right) with the Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, Emma Mcbride in Parliament House, Canberra.
“Headspace is dedicated to supporting the mental health of young people, which will benefit our growing community.
“The past few years have been tough, especially for our young people, and it is important that we support them when they are going through difficult times.
“The October Budget has committed to building a new Headspace centre right here in Edmondson Park and I am proud to be delivering on a promise I took to the last election.’’
The proposed Headspace centre will be easily accessible by public transport or car.
The Budget also includes funding to link Aviation Road and Middleton Drive to ease congestion in the fast-growing suburbs of Austral and Middleton Grange.
“The Albanese Government understands that growing communities need adequate infrastructure development to ensure that Australians spend less time on the road and more time with their families,’’ Ms Stanley said.
“This was a promise I took to the last election, and I am proud to be part of a government that delivers on our promises.’’
Austral and Middleton Grange developments have not been adequately supported by proper road infrastructure and residents have been feeling the effects with increased travel times and congestion.
“Werriwa deserves proper investment in our road infrastructure, and we finally have a government that recognises how important it is to invest in the communities of South Western Sydney,’’ Ms Stanley said.
