Three male teenagers have been arrested and charged after a police pursuit from Ingleburn to Moorebank that ended in a crash.
The youngest of the trio, a 17 year old, was driving the vehicle at the time.
Officers from Campbelltown Traffic and Highway Patrol had attempted to stop the red Land Rover station wagon when it was spotted travelling at excessive speed on Williamson Road, Ingleburn around 10.30pm on Saturday.
When the Land Rover failed to stop a pursuit was initiated.
At the intersection of Brickmakers Road and Nuwarra Road, Moorebank, the Land Rover mounted the footpath and crashed into a power pole.
The driver and the two passengers aged 18 and 19 were arrested after a short pursuit on foot.
None of them were injured in the crash.
Police say that it was later established the Land Rover was allegedly stolen from Voyager Point two days earlier on Thursday (July 26).
All three were taken to Liverpool Police Station, where the driver was charged with the following:
- Drive while suspended – first offence;
- Not give particulars to other driver;
- Negligent driving (not occasioning death or GBH);
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously – first offence;
- Not stop vehicle when directed to do so;
- Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner.
He was refused bail to appear in a children’s court on Sunday (July 31).
The passengers were charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, never licensed person drive vehicle on road and drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous.
