A man will appear in court today to face a number of charges over the shooting of another man at Macquarie Fields last month.
The accused was arrested after investigating detectives stopped a black VW Golf in Governs Way, Macquarie Links yesterday morning.
The driver and passenger, two men aged 26 and 29, were arrested and the vehicle was searched, with police seizing a round of ammunition and clothing.
A subsequent search warrant was executed at a home on Governors Way, where police seized various types of ammunition, a self-loading pistol, extendable batons, mobile phones and clothing items related to the investigation. The items will undergo further examination.
The men were taken to Macquarie Fields Police Station, where the younger man was charged with possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm, discharging a firearm with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm and two counts of acquiring a firearm subject to prohibition order.
Other charges included firing a weapon in a manner likely to injure persons.
He was refused bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court today.
The passenger was issued with a $1000 PIN for not complying with a Covid-19 health order.
The alleged shooting took place on September 26 outside a home on Snow Street, Macquarie Fields.
Police allege three men arrived at the front of the home and became involved in an argument and physical altercation with two male occupants aged 27 and 30.
The younger man sustained a gunshot wound to his right hand during the altercation and then the three men fled the scene in a vehicle.
The injured man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.
Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command, with assistance from specialist police, conducted an extensive search of the area, however, the men were not located at the time.
