Despite the setbacks created by the Covid-19 pandemic, plans for Liverpool City’s growth and development have not been put on pause.

Major developments in the Liverpool local government area were on the agenda when Liverpool City Council brought together business leaders and experts, developers and council staff to discuss its vision for commercial development in the city centre and beyond.

The Developer Forum, the first for 2021, was adapted from an in-person to an online event.

It attracted leading real estate, property, planning, law, and hospitality practitioners including Deloitte, AMP Capital, Colliers, Lendlease and Frasers.

The forum’s agenda focused on council’s planning and development application functions and its plans for the revitalisation of the CBD.

Major projects, including Phillips Park, Moore Point, and Liverpool Civic Place, the biggest public project in the heart of Liverpool, were in the spotlight during the forum.

This was followed by a Q&A segment where attendees were able to engage directly with council staff.

“Forums such as these are a great way to engage with the development community,” says mayor Wendy Waller.

“The purpose of the forum was to give further insight into Liverpool’s current developments and the scope for future projects.

“The challenges posed by the pandemic haven’t stopped us from getting on with things in a big way. For four years in a row, council has approved $1 billion or more in development applications creating many opportunities.

“Leaders and businesses have the same confidence in the future prosperity of the region as we do.”
