Locals are invited to have their say on a plan to guide the provision of community facilities across Campbelltown over the next 20 years.
Council has developed a draft community facilities strategy and is seeking community feedback before finalising the plan.
The plan is open for public comment until Friday, May 25.
The draft plan was developed to explore the needs and expectations of our growing and changing community, and provided council with an opportunity to look at emerging trends in community facilities and respond to different generational needs.
The strategy provides a framework for how council will develop, manage and fund community facilities.
It identifies needs and makes recommendations on how to meet those needs.
Most importantly, it defines the benchmarks for what our communities need to thrive, and that will be applied to match the pace and extent of growth in our city.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said council recognised the importance of planning now for the unprecedented population growth Campbelltown City would face in the coming two decades.
“Council is in the process of developing and finalising a number of strategies across the scope of services it provides to ensure we are prepared for, and can best leverage that growth to the benefit of our community,” he said.
“The draft community facilities strategy is an important part of our plans, and as with all of council’s plans, we want to work hand-in-hand with our community to ensure the needs, expectations and aspirations of our community are met.
“Our community connects, learns, relaxes, exercises and celebrates in community facilities – they are vital part of a community spirited and liveable city.
“Community input into this draft strategy is important, and I would encourage residents to have their say.”
