With a maiden FFA Cup campaign followed by a two-legged AFC Champions League Quarter Final to deal with, the Western Sydney Wanderers will prepare by playing three games against state league opposition. Macarthur Rams, Canberra FC and APIA Leichhardt will all play host to Western Sydney before the team heads to South Australia to face Adelaide City in an
historic FFA Cup encounter against the three-time National Soccer League Champions. On Wednesday, August 20, the Wanderers return to Parramatta Stadium for the first time this season when Guangzhou Evergrande visits for the AFC Champions League quarter final. The return leg will be played in China the following week. A positive result will see the Wanderers contest the Champions League semi finals held on Wednesday, September 17 and Tuesday, September 30, which would mean a potential FFA Cup second round match [planned for September 16] would have to be moved to an alternate date. If the Wanderers do not progress to the Champions League semisd, then a match against Wellington Phoenix has been pencilled in for Sunday, September 28. Fixture List: Macarthur Rams, Campbelltown Stadium, 7:30pm Wednesday, July 23; Canberra FC, Deakin Stadium, 7:30pm Wednesday, July 30; APIA Leichhardt, Leichhardt Oval, 7:30pm, Tuesday, August 5; Adelaide City, Marden Sports Complex, kick-off TBC Tuesday, August 12 (FFA Cup).
