Last year’s Campbelltown City Youth Week program took out top honours at the 2016 Local Government Week Awards.
It was named best local program and received the Youth Week Award.
The Campbelltown program was singled out for the level of youth participation in the planning and attendance at activities, its capacity to showcase the skills and talent of local young people, and for activities which highlighted the positive contribution young people make to the community.
The 2017 National Youth Week will kick off on March 31 and this year’s Campbelltown City Council’s program of activities promises to be as good if not better than last year.
And no wonder, just look at some of the activities scheduled, from movies and entertainment to a skate, scooter and BMX showcase and art.
All of the activities have been developed in partnership with Campbelltown businesses, high schools, youth services and young people.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, is calling on young people to attend the wealth of activities on offer this year.
“Youth Week is a great way to recognise and to celebrate the contribution and successes of Campbelltown’s younger community,” he said.
“This year, council is pleased to be able to facilitate another excellent program of activities, providing information and support, and showcasing the artistic and musical talents of our younger residents, who make up almost a quarter of Campbelltown’s population.”
