Camden Council will hold a mayoral reception to thank SES volunteers, other emergency services and council staff who helped out during the floods earlier this month.
Mayor of Camden, Councillor Lara Symkowiak says they all worked through the night after the storm to reopen roads and bridges as quickly as possible.
“We are fortunate to have so many staff who help keep our community safe,” the mayor said.
“This is just a small gesture to show these amazing men and women, their families and the community how much we appreciate their dedication to our community in times like these.”
Councillor Symkowiak said that Camden Council was also able to assist Wollondilly Council by providing equipment and staff to help with their clean-up efforts during the storm.
On the Monday night following the storm, Camden provided two 13 ton tipper trucks, a rear loader waste truck and drivers to add to Wollondilly’s clean-up crew.
“Our staff worked throughout the night assisting Wollondilly Council,’’ Cr Symkowiak said.
Camden Council is now in the clean-up and recovery phase.
Council staff have been clearing tonnes of mud and debris and collecting storm material from residential properties, as well as making repairs to infrastructure.
“I wish all the residents and businesses who were affect by the storm all the very best and hope they are back in their homes and their businesses are up and running as soon as possible,’’ Cr Symkowiak said.
