Camden Council will relocate to Oran Park this year.

As all Camden residents would be aware by now, council will be on the move in 2016.

Camden Council will be moving its head office to a centralised building in Oran Park to ensure that, as it grows as it has the capacity to continue to deliver quality services and facilities to the local community.

It says that plans are in place to ensure that, when council moves to Oran Park this year, the buildings formerly occupied by council are leased and well-utilised.

Following an Expression of Interest process in late 2015, Camden Council received 26 submissions from interested parties to lease five council properties in Narellan and Camden.

Their occupation will mean more services for our residents, particularly in health and medical care, further tourism opportunities, more people accessing the Camden Town Centre and ongoing income for ratepayers through their lease.

Council will investigate an expression of interest to use the historic Macaria building on John Street, Camden as the Alan Baker Art Gallery.

This is an excellent opportunity for the community and visitors to enjoy this much-loved and historic location while also adding a tourist attraction to the town centre.

Late last year, on December 8, Council agreed in principle to enter into lease negotiations with the following preferred tenants:

•  Council Administration Building, 19 Queen Street, Narellan for a large medical centre and small pharmacy;

• Council Parks and Gardens Depot, 15 Elyard Road, Narellan for a sales office for Colourbond sheds;

• Former SES building – 27 John Street, Camden for Macarthur Disability Services, Disability and Support services and resource centre;

• Council Administration Building, 37 John Street, Camden for multi-disciplinary medical centre and associated services;

• Macaria, 37 John Street, Camden: council officers will further investigate the preferred use of this building for an art gallery proposal.
