The Campbelltown Hospital auxiliary is right up there with the best in NSW.
Last year it recorded more hours for each of its volunteer members than any other auxiliary.
Campbelltown also excelled in the amount of money raised, coming second in the state.
At the 82nd United Hospital Auxiliaries of NSW Conference, held in Wagga Wagga, the Campbelltown branch was presented with two trophies: the Jan Maskill Trophy for the most hours worked by a Metropolitan Auxiliary – 713 hours per member, and the Merit Bell – Runner Up Trophy for the most money raised by a metropolitan auxiliary – the Campbelltown branch raised more than $87,000 for the 2014-15 financial year.
The Campbelltown branch was also presented with two merit awards – one for collecting more than $500 net per member and the other for raising more than $50,000 total for year.
The auxiliary has 43 members who organise a variety of fundraising activities including barbecues, raffles and the baby boutique gift stall that operates each month in the foyer of Campbelltown Hospital.
For more than 60 years the auxiliary has fundraised to support Campbelltown Hospital, purchasing equipment to enhance existing services and improve patient care.
Campbelltown City Council has now acknowledged the tremendous effort of the auxiliary by presenting it with a community service award.
The presentation was part of a morning tea with auxiliary members and the mayor, Paul Hawker.
The award, says council, is in recognition of the significant contribution the members of the auxiliary make to Campbelltown Hospital, and in turn the wider Campbelltown community.
In his speech, Mayor Hawker acknowledged the kindness, generosity and hard work of the volunteers and the support they had provided to both the patients and staff of Campbelltown Hospital.
“The auxiliary take immense pride in their work, and their enthusiasm and loyalty is to be commended,” Cr Hawker said.

“The auxiliary’s volunteers give generously of their time and talent and I thank them, on behalf of council and the Campbelltown community, for the significant contribution that they make to our city,” Cr Hawker said.
