Tell Camden Council what you think about the proposed one storey car park on Oxley Street.

Camden Council is seeking community feedback on the appearance of the one deck car park on Oxley Street.

But residents need to be quick: they have until Wednesday, December 16 to take part in the survey and have their comments considered before a final decision is made.

Issues associated with a lack of parking facilities have been regularly raised by business owners in Argyle Street as an ongoing area of concern.

At the same time, residents have also expressed frustration about the lack of parking facilities.

The extension of a single level will provide additional parking close to Argyle Street, making access to the Camden Town Centre easier.

Additionally, the car park extension will ensure businesses in the Camden Town Centre continue to prosper and are able to compete with surrounding shopping centres.

Council consulted with the community between July and September last year on the need and location for extra parking in the Camden Town Centre.

The majority of responses stated that there was a need for more parking and supported the Oxley Street/Civic Centre car park as the preferred location.

The survey seeks the opinion of Camden ratepayers on the appearance of the car park, including materials, colours, green walls, screening and public art.

“Your opinion is important to council,’’ a spokesperson said.

The survey, images and details can be found on the website or on display at the following locations until December 16:

Camden Library, John Street, Camden;

Narellan Library, corner of Queen and Elyard Streets, Narellan;

Camden Administration Office, 37 John Street Camden;

Narellan Administration Office, 19 Queen Street, Narellan;

Camden Civic Centre, corner Mitchell and Oxley Streets, Camden

Council says all feedback received will be collated and a final design will be submitted as part of an official development application in 2016.
